Why we believe what we believe
Why be born again?
Jesus said, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. (John 3:3) If
thou shall confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shall believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shall be saved.
(Romans 10:9)
Why receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
If
you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children,
how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them
that ask Him (Luke 11:13) If
any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on
me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of
living water. (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe
on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because
that Jesus was not yet glorified). (John 7:37-39) But you shall receive power when the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be my witnesses unto me. (Acts 1:8)
How should God be worshipped?
But
the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship
the Father in Spirit and in Truth: for the Father seeketh such to
worship him. God is a Spirit; and they that worship him must worship him
in Spirit and in Truth. (John 4:23-24)
Why receive tithes and offerings?
Bring
ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine
house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of hosts, if I will not
open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there
shall not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer
for your sakes...(Malachi 3:10,11) Upon
the first day of the week let everyone of you lay by him in store, as
God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. (1
Corinthians 16:2) Give
and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down and shaken
together, and running over, shall men give unto your bosom. For by your
standard of measure it will be measured to you in return. (Luke 6:38) Every man shall give as he is able according to the blessing of the Lord thy God which he hath given thee. (Deut. 16:17)
Why do we lift our hands?
Thus will I bless Thee while I live; I will lift up my hands in Thy Name. (Psalm 63:4) Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord. (Psalm 134:2) I will therefore that men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting. (1 Timothy 2:8)
Why do we clap our hands and shout?
O clap your hands all ye people; shout unto God with a voice of triumph. (Psalm 47:1)
Why do we have audible praise unto God
By
him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually,
that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. (Hebrews
13:15)
Why do we dance when we praise the Lord?
Praise him with the timbrels and dance. (Psalm 150:4) Let them praise his name in the dance. (Psalm 149:3)
Why do we sing new songs?
Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. (Psalm 149:1)
How is it when we come Together?
How
is it then, brethren... When ye come together, everyone of you hath a
psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an
interpretation. let all things be done unto edifying. (1 Corinthians
14:26) And be not
drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing
and making melody in your heart to the Lord. (Ephesians 5:18,19)
Why do we sing in tongues and in English?
For
if I pray in an unknown tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding
is unfruitful. What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will
pray with the understanding also; I will sing with the spirit, and I
will sing with the understanding also. (1 Corinthians 14:14,15)
Why do we have speaking in tongues and the Interpretation in the Church?
Wherefore, brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues. (1 Corinthians 14:39) But
the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
..to another the interpretation of tongues. (1 Corinthians 12:7,10) I
would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied;
for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues
except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. (1
Corinthians 14:5) If
any man speak in an unknown tongue, let it be by two, or at the most by
three, and that by course, and let one interpret. (1 Corinthians
14:27)
Why do we testify of the things God has done?
And
they overcame him (the devil) by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word
of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.
(Revelation 12:11)
What is prophecy and why do we prophesy?
But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort. (1 Corinthians 14:3) Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy. (1 Corinthians 14:1) Despite not prophesyings. (1 Thes. 5:20)
Why are musical instruments a part of the worship service?
Praise
him with the sound of the trumpet; praise him with the psaltry and
harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance. Praise him with the
stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals.
(Psalm 150:3-5) And
I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the
voice of a great thunder; and I heard the voice of harpers harping with
their harps. (Revelations 14:2)
Why does the whole Church pray at once for specific needs?
And
when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one
accord, and said Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth,
and the sea, and all that is in them. (Acts 4:24)
Why do we pray for the sick?
Is
any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let
them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord; and
the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him
up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him. (James
5:14,15) Pray one for another, that ye may be healed. (James 5:16)
